I will be travelling outside the borders of South Africa. Does Bankmed provide benefits for "foreign" claims?

I use chronic medicine and am going overseas. What must I do if I need to take more than one month's supply of chronic medicine with me?
Although Bankmed only covers one month's supply of medicine at a time, you can apply for an exception to be made (on request) when you are travelling outside the borders of the country for an extended period of time. To apply for this exception, please complete and submit this undertaking and email it to enquiries@bankmed.co.za with a copy of your return airline ticket as your proof of travel, at least 3-5 days before departure. If approved, you will receive an amended Chronic Authorisation letter to give to your pharmacist. This will enable him/her to claim the extended supply from Bankmed. Please remember to notify us of your return to South Africa, so that we can reinstate your original authorisation.
