-year is an ideal time to take stock – and we’ve
got it firmly in our sights. The year is certainly
flying by, and it seems the pace of life just seems
to be getting faster.
We can’t control this but we can control how
we react to it, and how we care for ourselves and
our families. As the weather cools and winter looms, we encourage you to
stop, smell the proverbial roses, and focus on your wellbeing.
Start by reading your latest issue of Bounce Magazine, which is full of
health and fitness news, inspiration and advice to help you live a happier,
healthier life. Our aim with the new-look Bounce is to boost Bankmed’s
offering with practical, useful health and fitness information, which also
serves as a personal wellbeing progress planner.
It will help you assess if you’re making the
right choices to achieve the lifestyle you want.
We encourage you to complete the Live, Eat, Move
questionnaires to measure your progress since the
summer issue. The articles that follow these will
support you in making the positive changes needed.
In this issue, we tackle everything from staying fit
as we age (page 14), pre-surgery exercise (page 20),
managing anxiety (page 34), choosing healthy winter
comfort foods (page 50), avoiding the post-lunch
energy slump (page 60), and much more…
We received glowing feedback about Bounce in a
recent focus group, which shows we’re hitting the
mark with this formula. We’re committed to boosting
this offering, and look forward to your feedback.
We trust that your medical aid option is serving you
well, and meeting your family’s needs for 2018. We’re
on hand to answer any questions around benefits and contributions, but for
a quick, at-a-glance reminder of what’s new this year, see page 64 (visit
www.bankmed.co.za for explainer videos around each plan).
As many of you know, we ran another of our very successful, countrywide
series of Pensioner Roadshows in March and April. A sincere thank you to all
our members who attended and gave such positive feedback, in person and
via social media. It was wonderful to connect with so many of you (page 66).
Last but not least, a reminder that our AGM is taking place on 28 June
at the Johannesburg Club in Auckland Park (page 66 for event details). As
we did last year, the voting for trustees will take place before our AGM. You
would either have received online notification or a voting pack in the post.
Here’s to your good health!
